DuPont and Grontmij Industry win ITM Award 2010
On 6 May, DuPont and Grontmij Industry won the ITM Award 2010 in the category "Best Practice in Manufacturing", with the concept and realization of an inventive and tailor-made divider system. The jury awarded DuPont and Grontmij Industry because of the "ingenious simplicity of the concept which dealt with the limited available area. Furthermore, a lot of attention was spent on the details of the project. They have guaranteed the good functioning and safety of the system in a simple but well thought thorougly way, without the use of electronics or sophisticated steering.”
Inventive divider system at DuPont pays for itself in 15 months
The Performance Coatings division of the multinational DuPont de Nemours is the world's biggest car lacquers manufacturer. One of this division's important production units is based in Mechelen, Belgium. On 12 January 2009, DuPont started up a unique divider system which provides uninterrupted throughput between the zones where cans of lacquer of various sizes are filled automatically and then packaged. DuPont has now patented this inventive system, with Bob Demessemaeker of Grontmij Industry being named as the "inventor".
